China is adding classifications that include AI-agent developers and embodied-robotics technicians. The labels matter less than the work they describe. AI is moving into workplaces that need people who can connect systems to real processes, identify a failure, protect data and stop a machine when conditions change.
A robot needs calibration, maintenance, safety checks and exception handling. An agent needs version control, permissions, evaluation and a human owner who understands the business process. Employers must define authority as carefully as they define skill, so frontline workers know when they may override automation and how an incident is escalated.
Better operations talent raises deployment cost at the start, but can lower downtime, rework and regulatory exposure later. The companies best placed to benefit from AI will not merely be those that buy more systems. They will be those that build teams capable of keeping the systems useful after launch day.
